Costa Rica Strengthens Its Leadership in Medical Devices with New Solesis Plant Designed by Ingenya

Costa Rican firm Ingenya Consulting, specialized in the design of industrial facilities with an integrated approach (architecture, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering), continues to establish itself as a strategic partner for global companies investing in the country’s growth.

With more than 25 years of experience and recently recognized with the global Engineering & Technology Partner of the Year 2023 award by Bayer, Ingenya marks a new milestone through its collaboration with Solesis in setting up the company’s first manufacturing plant in Costa Rica.

Located in The Greenpark Free Zone, the Solesis facility is now fully completed and operational, representing a decisive step in the growth of the free zone and reinforcing Costa Rica’s position as a leading hub for advanced medical technology.

Developed under high standards of sustainability and industrial design, the project represents a strategic investment in Solesis’ global expansion, aiming to enhance its capabilities in the production of implantable textile components and polymer-based solutions for critical medical applications.

The new facility, scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2025, will generate approximately 100 new jobs in specialized areas and will include clean rooms designed to meet the most rigorous requirements of the medical industry. This project not only raises the profile of medical manufacturing in the country but also reflects multinational confidence in Costa Rican talent and the competitive environment the country offers for foreign direct investment.

Ingenya thus reaffirms its commitment to sustainable industrial development in Costa Rica, playing a key role in the infrastructure that supports the growth of the medical device sector — one of the pillars of national exports — and continues to generate employment, technology transfer, and high-value productive linkages.
